Eduard Zetsche 1844 Vienna-1927 Vienna

Eduard Zetsche took private lessons with Robert Russ and his friend Emil Jakob Schindler. From 1874 to 1879, he was a student at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and studied under Eduard von Lichtenfels. From 1879 to 1881, he attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Afterwards, he lived and worked in Vienna. He found his motifs mainly in Lower Austria, especially in the Wachau. Zetsche was well versed in both watercolour and oil painting. He regularly participated in exhibitions at the ‘Künstlerhaus’, often also at the Munich ‘Glaspalast’ (Glass Palace) and at the ‘Große Berliner Kunstausstellung’ (Great Berlin Art Exhibition). Zetsche developed an idiosyncratic style, characteristic for his landscapes is a lyrical atmosphere.
